Equipment

  • 1 PAN
  • 1 Pot
  • 1 Potato masher

Ingredients

  • 2 Large Potatoes
  • Salt
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Black pepper
  • 1 Teaspoon Red chilli powder
  • 1/2 Teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 2-3 Tablespoons Cornflour
  • Vegetable oil

Instructions

  • Peel the potatoes and cut them into long, evenly-sized strips.
  • In a large pot, bring water to a boil, and add a pinch of salt. Now add the potatoes and cook until they are fully cooked, so you can mash them very well.
  • Take a mixing bowl and mash the potatoes with the help of a potato masher. Now add salt (to taste), 1/2 tsp black pepper, 1 tsp red chilli powder, 1/2 tsp turmeric powder and 2-3 tbsp cornflour (for extra crispiness).
  • Place the dough on a flat surface and roll it. Now with the help of a pizza cutter cut it in so many triangle shapes.
  • Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pan over medium heat. Fry the potato tringles in batches for about 4-5 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
  • Once fried, remove the fries from the oil and drain on paper towels. Serve immediately with your favourite dipping sauce!

Notes

  • For the best texture, use starchy potatoes like Russets
  • Mash potatoes well
  • For even crispier fries, you can fry them twice.
  • You can experiment with different seasonings.
